China has recently come under fire for its treatment of African residents n the Guangzhou district.
According to officials, some 10 coronavirus cases have been linked to what is termed "Little Africa."
All 4,500 residents of African descent were ordered to an illegal 14-day quarantine.
This has resulted in African residents being evicted from their homes and subjected to illegal detentions and arrest on the streets.
According to the South China Morning Post, African residents’ homes are being monitored with tracking devices to alert officials if they “open the door.”
Chinas actions are illegal under The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19, section 5, which states that "no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." They are also in violation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Article 2 (b)(c) which states that "each State Party undertakes not to sponsor, defend or support racial discrimination by any persons or organizations. Also, that "each State Party shall take effective measures to review governmental, national and local policies, and to amend, rescind or nullify any laws and regulations which have the effect of creating or perpetuating racial discrimination wherever it exists."
If that were not bad enough, they are also in violation of Article 5 (b) of that same convention that states "the right to security of person and protection by the State against violence or bodily harm, whether inflicted by government officials or by any individual group or institution."
As one of the charter members of the United Nations and a permanent member of it's Security Council given the responsibility to ensure peace and security, such an illegal stand by a prominent member of the United Nations will no doubt bring legal sanctions of epic proportions if they don't renounce their present stand and make amends with the 4,500 African residents in the Guangzhou district of China.
