Google pays Apple around 12 billion per year to be default iOS search engine

According to the New York Times, Apple received some eight to 12 billion dollars per year in exchange for making Google the default search engine on it’s devices and services.

According to MacRumors, this accounts for 14 to 21 percent of Apple’s annual profits.

The United States Justice Department is now targeting the deal between Apple and Google as prosecutors claim that it’s an illegal tactic used to protect Google’s monopoly and stifle competition.
